大学 of the Albemarle’s (COA) 大学 and 职业准备 program is a stepping stone for adult learners to achieve their dreams and build skills in preparation for the future. Our goal is to ensure that all adult learners have the knowledge and academic preparation needed to enroll and succeed in college or to prepare for a successful, 有益的事业.

The 大学 and 职业准备 program offers 成人高中, High School Equivalency, Adult Basic Education, 英语 as a Second Language, and Adult Basic Education Transitional Opportunities. Our program can help you improve your reading, 写作, 还有数学技能, refine your 英语 language proficiency, develop interview and employment skills, attend college classes and receive credit, and earn a high school diploma or High School Equivalency.

Enables Students to earn an 成人高中 diploma through a curriculum of instruction that aligns with adult education and literacy activities and other core programs and one-stop partners.

High School Equivalency

Offers classroom instruction to prepare and qualify learners to successfully pass either their GED® or HiSET®, the designated high school equivalency assessments in North Carolina.

Adult Basic Education

Enables adults to acquire the basic educational skills that focus on reading, 写作, 说话, 计算, 批判性思维, and problem solving to improve their ability to benefit from job training and have greater opportunities, including employment.

英语 as a Second Language (ESL)

Helps adults develop the basic language skills of reading, 写作, 说话 and listening; integrating the 英语 language with topics that prepare students for everyday life, employment and citizenship.

Adult Basic Education Transitional Opportunities

Helps students with intellectual and developmental disabilities focus on improving their reading/写作 还有数学技能 as well as building employability skills.

Digital Literacy Skills and Training Education

Provides students with the functional digital literacy and technical skills needed to seek, obtain and sustain employment.

职业生涯 READY Transition 类

Enables students to receive instruction that is Refreshing, E加强, Accelerating, D的演变 Your Skills (READY) in Mathematics, 英语, and Writing Concepts required to transition into post-secondary education or employment.

If you are an adult or qualifying minor, you may enroll in 大学 and 职业准备 programs. Minors between the age of 16 and 17 also qualify for the program. Minor admission requires the parent/legal guardian to complete the Minor 申请 入学. This application must be notarized. Minor applicants desiring to enroll in the 成人高中 or High School Equivalency program, whose last school of attendance was within the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank County Public School System must obtain the Minor 申请 入学 from the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank County Schools Drop-Out Prevention Coordinator.
